Woe
is me.
That
seems to be the general cry of the public now. In light of the recent (dare I say
recession) down fall of our economic base it is fast becoming evident that we are in for
some rough times ahead. Many people are seriously reviewing their annual budget numbers. I
dont feel we have much to fear as I know we operate daily with inadequate
maintenance funds. Yes! Its time that the tough get tougher or the faint of heart
step aside. You know as well as I do that in this type of economically stressed
environment we excel. It must just be in our general make up that we choose not to whimper
instead we just get the job done.
Often
I listen to the news and hear the concern and at times fear in the voices of our news
media, politicians, economists and bean counters! Isnt it funny that our general
public is in a panic. Daily we struggle with limited funds and stretch every penny. How
often do we go out there and aggressively seek funding for emergency repairs? You know as
well as I do that we dont have the luxury of borrowing above our means to keep our
facilities safe and on line.
It
is good to know that you are not the only one out there preparing to tackle this money
monster. Remember we are all in this together and if we cant rely on anything we can
rely on each other. That is just one more reason that IBOA is a winner in my book! So put
away the tissues, pull up your socks and roll up your sleeves and just do what you do
best. Continue to be the very best group of professional facility operators around!
